Accustomed to his face

My little grandson was in town over the last couple of weeks. He spent his first Christmas here with us. He was  pretty interested in  the bubble wrap and empty boxes, but also liked his new toys and books.

But now it’s time to put away the high chair and board books.

The house is quiet, the breakables are back on the low shelves…and I miss seeing him here, climbing up the stairs, playing with his toys, giggling and learning new things all the time.

This kind of empty nest has a different feeling. The thing is, I grew accustomed to his face.

His smiles…

His frowns…

His ups…

His downs…

What a wonderful time.
See you soon, little guy. We had a ball…

Until then: Doh da doh, Fenton. (We don’t know what that means yet. We’re trying to figure it out though.)

I’ll let Ella take it from here.

  1. It’s so hard when they leave, isn’t it. Sweet pics to help you remember (though I’m sure your heart needs no assistance in recalling his sweetness).

    Precious post, Risa.

  2. So sweet! And great choice of a song! I don’t have grandchildren yet, but I can imagine how hard it must be to let them leave after a visit.

  3. SO so adorable, but don’t tell me that there is empty nest syndrome redux….not sure that I can take it again! Lovely post.

What wonderful pictures! I can sure see why you would get used to having that little face around! Even though our granddaughter is only a mile away and we get to see her a lot — I know what you mean, you look for them and they aren’t there! And you miss them until they come back. I hope it will be soon.
