Art + Words: Remembering the Oakland Hills Fire, Rockridge Library on October 29th at 11:00am

art from the fire art project

Please join us in commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Oakland Hills Fire.

On October 20, 1991 a devastating fire storm roared through the Oakland and Berkeley hills killing 25 people and destroying over 3,000 homes.

On the one year anniversary there was the Fire Art Project, orchestrated by Ruth Block, that consisted of 35 venues throughout Oakland and Berkeley showing art created as result of the fire.

On October 29th at 11 am join artists Ruth Block, and Darrell Hunger as well as memoirist Risa Nye for a multimedia lecture and the chance to share memories.

For the month of October 2016, the gallery at Rockridge Library will show many pieces from the 1992 Fire Art Project.
